Tree Stump Pincushion

This little pincushion has been on my mind for years and though I started it about a year ago, I just finished it up this week.

This fun, simple pincushion is actually inspired by this amazing pincushion by hitree that I saw in a sewing magazine several years ago. Hers is much cuter, with the little heart tree knots, the extra branch, and the adorable little face. Seriously, so stinkin' cute!

I loved the idea but a little simpler and hand-sewn.  I found a template for another tree stump pincushion and though I didn't end up using the pattern or adding any of the details, it did give me an idea about how to start and get it all put together.  I love the toadstools and I'm planning to make an emery-filled one to add to my stump later.

It feels good to finally finish a project I've been thinking about for years. I am a firm believer in never having too many pincushions and this was a really fun one.
